This is my niece, Deanna. She's in Baghdad at Camp Taji. Trained as an MP, but serving as a gunner. She's been in Iraq for almost 2 months of a 1 year tour. Our family is so very proud of her and the other service men & women who are in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all over the world. A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage.

A lady came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten.

We all looked at each other and another customer asked,

"What is a seven-hundred-ten?"

She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the

engine, I have lost it and need a new one."

She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this

piece had always been there. The mechanic gave her a piece of

paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like.

She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then

took her over to another car which had its hood up and asked

"is there a 710 on this car?" She pointed and said,

"Of course, it's right there."

Okay, I know (alleged) steroid use in baseball (and athletics in general)is a hot button issue...BUT...Don't we have bigger things to worry about/concentrate on? Like, the election? Or the Middle East conflicts we are involved in? The housing/mortgage crisis in America, not to mention our own state? Homeless & hungry familys and children? Unemployment? C'mon! These are the people YOU & I elected? The politicians in Washington are concentrating today (2/13/08 as I write this) on grilling Roger Clemens on alleged steroid/HGH use. Perhaps they need to be reminded of the more important issues at hand. These are your tax dollars at work! I agree that any type of performance enhancing drug has no place in sports...SO...Test'em! Test turns up positive, fine'em or fire'em or both, correct or erase the stats during that time of play for that player and move on. I don't know about you, but I want my elected officials to work on more important issues. Cheating in sports is a big deal...but is it as big as one dead soldier? Or planes flying into buildings? Or putting the right butt into the president's chair? Or fixin all the things that need fixing in our country? Don't get me wrong, I like baseball....but it is, after all, just baseball.

HOW 'BOUT A NICE CLOSE SHAVE...?

I must say here right from the start...I'm not much for musicals. Sound Of Music, Phantom, etc., ain't really my thing. That said, I went to see, "Sweeney Todd" over the holidays. It was absolutely fantastic! I didn't think I'd like it. After all it is...a musical...but a very dark musical, and that's why I liked it. Gotta say Johnny Depp was excellent, as was the whole cast, including Sasha Baron Cohen as Pirelli. Cohen, as you know, was Borat. Listen, I know you guys are probably thinking, "A musical? I ain't goin' to no musical!" Just trust me on this one. Go see the movie...but leave the kids at home. To say it's a little bloody is an understatement. Oh, and after you see the flick...fire your barber & no more pot pies for lunch. And one more thing...The guy sitting 2 seats away from us was mimicking all the moves and saying the lines Depp did in the movie...ALL OF THEM. It was disturbing. He was either a really big fan who's seen the movie a few times since it opened...or it was an instructional video for him...creepy. That guy is a Fox News Alert waiting to happen.

Quiet Riot singer died of overdose

The death last month of Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has been ruled an accidental cocaine overdose. Clark County coroner spokeswoman Samantha Charles confirmed the cause Monday after toxicology results were received Monday.

Dubrow was found dead Nov. 25 at his Las Vegas home. He was 52.

Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize." The song, featuring Dubrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

DuBrow recorded a solo album in 2004, "In for the Kill," and the band's last studio CD, "Rehab," came out in October 2006.

GUITAR HERO or ROCK BAND?

So the Christmas shopping season is here and in full swing. Have you even started? Yeah, me either. I'm just not looking forward to fighting traffic, the crowds, circling the parking lot looking for a spot, talking to vapid sales droids and standing in line at the checkout...but that's just me. BTW, if you're a vapid sales droid, I'm sorry if I insulted you. Name tags, Khaki pants & polo shirts become you. Anyway...which one are you getting, Guitar Hero III or Rock Band? Me, I'll be snagging Guitar Hero III as I only have a PS2. I'd like Rock Band, but at the moment it's only being made for XBOX 360 & PS3, neither of which have I. Trust me, I have better things to do with my $499 than to purchase a new gaming platform. I do think Rock Band might be a bit more fun as you can play with more people. The game comes with guitar, mic & drum kit controllers. The guitar can be used as lead or bass as it features 2 sets of buttons. Rock Band gives a whole new meaning to "Garage Band." Guitar Hero III is not without it's merits. It's the real deal in terms of songs this time around, no knock-off tunes & guitar bosses Slash & Tom Morello are the ones to beat. Whichever one you choose, you'll be having a ton of rock n' roll fun, I'm sure.

So, did you go to either VH show? I was lucky enough to be at both of'em. I liked the Joe Louis show a bit better, however, the Palace show was very good. I was actually lucky enough to be invited to the Budweiser suite at the palace show.
Chris Chelios was there with us & it was indeed a fun night. Thank you Brandon! Speaking of hockey, the pic above is my son. He's wearing a Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Championship ring. Pic was taken at NHL Prospect Camp in Traverse City this past September. Thank you to Gregg Forwerk from Upper Deck Trading Cards for the pic. Gregg is also the team photog for the 'Canes.

HELLYEAH was excellent the other night! While I was waiting to host the 2nd half of the costume contest, I saw Vinnie Paul waiting in the wings. I took the opportunity to say hello & introduce myself. It was only a few seconds, but how cool is it to meet the drummer for PANTERA!? I was impressed with BLOODSIMPLE too. Hung out with the boys from CLEAR for a bit that night. Always good to see Mike & the boys.

Now, we look forward to the Thanksgiving holiday & the annual turkey coma.
The wife & I actually have tix to the Lions Thanksgiving Day game. We've never been to a turkey day game & it's been years since we both attended a Lions game, so we're pretty excited.

Went to the new Partridge Creek mall in Sterling Heights the other day. It's pretty cool. It's pet friendly so you can bring your dog! How cool is that? While I was there, I ran into Brian from CRITICAL BILL. Always good to see him & talk shop.

Osbournes to Auction Contents of 3 Homes

LOS ANGELES - Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are doing some housecleaning.

The 58-year-old rocker and his wife are selling art, furniture and collectibles from their homes in Malibu, Beverly Hills and England.

The Nov. 30 auction will also feature items from their MTV reality show, "The Osbournes," including son Jack Osbourne's black leather bedroom furniture and a cast-iron crucifix that adorned Ozzy's den in various episodes.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation.

"It's time to unload," said Sharon Osbourne, who celebrates her 55th birthday on Wednesday. "We just have an overabundance of possessions that we do not need."

With their three children now grown and out of the house, the couple have changed their style and moved to a new home, she told The Associated Press, adding that parting with hundreds of items has been "one of the most refreshing things I've done."

Ozzy, however, doesn't share his wife's enthusiasm.

"I don't know why we are selling everything as I want it all," Osbourne said in a statement.

He will perform a benefit concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Nov. 30, the first night of the sale.

"Ozzy gets very attached to things," Sharon explained. "He doesn't like change at all."

Highlights from the auction will be shown at The 02 arena in London on Nov. 5.

The sale, administered by Julien's Auctions, will be held Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Beverly Hills. Bids can be placed in person, by phone or over the Internet.

Hockey season starts soon & soon The Joe will be host to another season of Red Wings hockey! I, for one, can't wait. That's why I'll be attending NHL Prospect Camp and Red Wing's Training Camp later this month in Traverse City. If you've never been, it's a pretty good time. You never know who you'll run into at the bar on any given night. Draper, Cheli, Zetterberg, they're all there just hangin' & havin' a couple cold ones. Dave did most of the talking at the press conference the other day. While I watched, I noticed something familiar...each time Eddie began to speak, DLR stepped all over him & Eddie gave Dave that familiar, "WTF?" look. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE VH fan and I'm just as excited to see'em as you are (are you?)

I've said it before, and let it be written here: VH is really missing the boat. What they should do is do 2 nights in each city with both Sammy & Dave. Open with Sammy, close with Dave on the 1st night. Open with Dave & close with Sammy on the 2nd night. Talk about a cash cow tour!!

Ex-bandmate sues Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson's former keyboardist has sued the shock rocker, claiming he kept millions of dollars meant to be shared and bought items including a handbag owned by Hitler's girlfriend and a skeleton in a wheelchair.

Stephen Bier — whose stage name was Madonna Wayne Gacy — says he, Manson and other band members signed a partnership agreement in 1993 to share profits.

The suit, filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims Manson and others deceived Bier into thinking the band wasn't making much money.

Bier says he began to think differently several years ago when Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, went on a spending binge. He claims Manson owes him at least $20 million in shared profits.

From 2004 to 2006, the suit claims, Manson used band money to buy a $2 million home, collect Nazi paraphernalia and to give his fiancee at the time a handbag once owned by Eva Braun.

Manson also bought "African masks made of human skin, the full skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl, and the full skeleton of a 17th-century male in a wheelchair," the suit claims.

In addition, the suit claims Manson spent band money on personal drug treatment, a low-budget movie production, a Los Angeles gallery to display his artwork and about $450,000 for an engagement ring and his wedding to burlesque performer Dita Von Teese. She has since filed for divorce.

Bier contends that Manson and the band's lawyer and business managers cut off his salary payments and band credit card access and refused to pay his medical bills for work-related problems.

Manson's agent did not immediately return a call Saturday. But in an interview Thursday with MTV News, Manson denied the allegations and said he would fight them.

"The fact that he's claiming that I've treated him unfairly, financially, is really ridiculous," the singer said. "And I would never spend my money on a Chinese girl skeleton. That would be crossing the line. It's a Chinese boy, for the record."

Tribute to Ted Nugent's mom is unveiled

Ted Nugent's fans gathered outside a pub in this suburb of Chicago to recognize someone who left a lasting mark on the local rock scene — his mother.

Marion "Ma" Nugent was honored Wednesday at an unveiling ceremony of a 7,800-pound red granite rock with her image and a plaque. The rock sits out front of Durty Nellie's in Palatine's downtown.

About 250 people came to hear the "Motor City Madman" talk about his mother.

"I'm 59 years old and I'm having the time of my life because my mom and dad made me the best I can be," Nugent said. "This public tribute is merely a physical manifestation of what I celebrate every day of my life. My mom is with me every day of my life."

"Ma" Nugent, who lived in Palatine for more than 20 years, died in 1989. She regularly visited her son on tour during the 1970s, and became well-known locally as a columnist for Illinois Entertainer magazine. She wrote "Ma" Nugent's Mail for eight years, responding to readers' letters about rock 'n' roll and social issues.

"She was a regular fixture in a lot of the rock clubs, mostly backstage, hanging out with the bands in a very motherly fashion, in an advise-and-counsel sort of way," said Ron Ramelli, former ad director for the magazine.

Ted Nugent said his mother encouraged musicians to avoid drugs and alcohol like he did.

"A lot of people who were facing drug pressure, they fell for the lie of peer pressure and fashion," he said. "My mom was able to help them realize it was jive."

Nugent told his fans to "hug your moms every day."

The rocker spent much of his youth in Michigan, but he lived in the Chicago area for two years as a teenager and graduated from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights.

Singer's Heart Scare Leaves Kiss a Trio

SAN JACINTO, Calif. - Kiss lead singer and guitarist Paul Stanley had to bow out of a Southern California concert because of heart problems before the show, according to his Web site.

Band-mates Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer played the Friday night gig at Soboba Casino, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles, as Stanley was taken to the hospital.

"During sound check yesterday, my heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern," Stanley said in the Saturday Web site posting.

"Not knowing if this episode was life threatening made it even more exhausting," the statement continued.

Phone and e-mail messages for Kiss manager Doc McGhee seeking comment about Stanley's condition were not immediately returned Saturday night.

It was Kiss' first ever appearance as a trio, according to the band's Web site.

As famous for their makeup, stage mayhem and wagging tongues as their music, Kiss recorded the 1970s hits "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Detroit Rock City."

The 55-year-old Stanley, born Stanley Eisen, released a solo album, "Live to Win," in 2006.

I get to see The Police! Never got to see'em back in the day. It was pretty cool! All the hits, "Don't stand So Close To Me," "Sychronicity II," and a host of others...and of course, "Roxanne." It was a big 'ol "sing along with Sting."
The band was as tight as ever & they all looked no worse for the wear. They lacked a little energy though. No jumping around like in the 80's....ah yes, we all get old don't we? It was interesting watching the crowd too. Parents with their kids, people like me reliving their misspent youth. I must say, I found myself reminiscing about things I hadn't thought about for years. They'd play a song, I'd think of a party I attended years ago. Another song, I'm thinking of an old girlfriend. Song after song was memory after memory.

1 night, 30 years in the making.

Who knows...But as soon as The RIFF knows, so will you.

Just purchased a condo! Hooray for me, I have a mortgage...yipee? Boy lemme tell ya...if you've never bought your own place, are you in for a treat when ya do! So many flaming hoops to jump through! This document, that document, urine sample, blood sample,dna sample. So many stupid, redundant questions. Then, if you are remodeling the place, you gotta deal with this worker & that worker & more stupid, redundant questions. It ain't over yet, not by a longshot! After all this is done, you wait for the building & plumbing inspector to come to your place to "inspect." That consists of flicking a couple light switches & turning on the water. All of 5 minutes. Can they get there when scheduled? NOPE! Tell ya what, I'll flick the swtiches & turn on the water & call them to tell them it works...if they really want to know. When it's finaly done...guess what? It ain't! You've got stuff that needs to be fixed 'cause it wasn't done right the first time. I'll have workers in my new home until freakin' Christmas, I just know it. Not to mention packing and unpacking all your s**t and re-organizing your living space. PLUS---like the idiot I am---in the middle of all this, I decide to create more problems for myself & upgrade my computer, which come to find out, is too old & not upgradable anymore! After much fevered consultation with a computer "Geek," and parts put in and eventually taken out, I'm told by said "Geek" to get a new computer! How'd this guy get a job? Oh, that's right, he's a "Geek" and probably spends his days off watching reruns of Star Trek, in the basement of his mom's house where he lives, while wearing Spock ears, Frodo feet, Aquaman underwear & polishing the bishop to an old beat up poster of Blair from the Facts Of Life!

To make a long story short...I'm in Hell. I know, this to shall pass...like a kidney stone. Thanks for letting me rant. I sorta feel better.

This past Saturday night, The RIFF was at Milan Dragway for the Street Warriors Series. Street legal machines on the 1/4 mile. With Jeremy from the RIFF promotions team behind the wheel & me riding shotgun for s**ts & giggles, we raced the RIFF van down the track 4 times...and actually WON...TWICE!!! Trust me, it's a major deal as the RIFF van didn't get past 80 MPH and we actually survived to tell the story. Look for video of the race & stats posted at wrif.com later this week...and if you need someone to race your vehicle, Jeremy is your man!

This is my friend Mark Staycer as John Lennon. He was supposed to be on the ABC show, "The Next Big Thing." He did indeed pass auditions for the show & was told he was "Going to Hollywood!" However, in a recent e-mail, Mark explained to me that he is overseas playing with The BeatleManiacs and won't be on the show. Contractual obligations. So, enjoy the above video for now & if he comes here to Detroit for a show, I'll be sure to let you know. BTW, that show was kinda weird wasn't it?

This is my good friend Mark Staycer. He is an old radio guy who's found his calling.

He is John Lennon. That is to say, he's a John Lennon impersonator. The only one I know of outside of Beatles tribute bands. He's played all over the world including the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where it all started. He'll be featured on the ABC show "America's Next Big Thing" later this fall. If you saw Mark just walking down the street, you'd swear you were looking at John Lennon. And, yes, he is that good! Check out his website www.imaginelennon.com for pics, audio & video.

Lots of new stuff coming in 007 & I'm looking forward to all of it!

Saliva's "Blood Stained Love Story" hits stores on the 23rd of this month. AC/DC will release a new CD this year. Metallica should shove some new stuff in your ear by the end of the year. Ozzy, Korn, Linkin Park, Green Day lookin' to invade your space with new stuff too. Gun's & Roses should, finally, release "Chinese Democracy." And, as we move into warmer months, the concert season will spark up again & I'd look for ALL of these bands to hit Detroit for shows, hopefully more than once! Keep it on 101 WRIF 'cause we'll have tix to all the cool shows!

I'm also looking forward to the WRIF Men's Expo February 10th at Ford Field. Make plans now to attend! All the details on the wrif.com front page.

AXL, WHAT'S UP WITH THE CORN ROWS?

So, I was at the G n'R show the other night. Let's start with Detroit's own NOVADRIVER. They HAD to be pumped to be playing The Palace and opening the show! How sweet is that!? They sounded awesome & I'm glad some hometown boys got some major stage time. The SUICIDE GIRLS...ya seen one hoochie, ya seen'em all, so onward to SEBASTIAN BACH. He sounded, at the risk of being redundant, awesome. He has so much energy on stage & his voice has held up well over the years. He can still scream with the best of them! It was about a 45 minute wait for Axl & company. They hit the stage at 11:35 to the opening licks of "Welcome To The Jungle." Crowd went nuts. Robin Fink is Axl's axe man of choice & although I would have liked to have seen Slash playing those solos, Mr. Fink did extremely well! I was very impressed with his skills. Axl's voice was intact, although it sounded to me like he was struggling with the sound. I don't know, could be my ears or the arena acoustics, but at times it seemed his mic was cutting in & out. Maybe I was just drunk. All in all I'd say it was a pretty good show. Good mix of G n' R classics & new stuff from the yet to be released "Chinese Democracy." I think when I finally go to that big radio station in the sky, my epitaph will read, "Did the new Guns n' Roses cd come out yet?"

Have fun Christmas shopping & we'll see you at AEROSMITH/HINDER this Friday at the JLA & The Monster Truck Nationals at The Palace on Saturday.

Let me be the first to wish you & your's a happy Thanksgiving! It's a short week for many and there's no shortage of things to do & places to go. There's Riff party's at the Post Bar in Auburn Hills and Club 54 in Clinton Township with Anne Carlini & Doug Podell this Wednesday, the biggest party day of the year outside of New Years Eve. Screamin' Scott hosts the Riff's Ultimate Tailgate Bash at Vivio's at the Eastern Market for the Lion's Thanksgiving Day game. Suzy Cole broadcasts live this Friday night from Moose McGregors in Brownstown. Saturday Axl Rose and a whole different set of gunners pull the tour bus into the Palace of Auburn Hills. I'll be holding court at the Riff booth inside the Palace, so if your goin', stop by & say hi. Don't forget about the Gun's n' Roses pre-party at the Post Bar across the street from the Palace! Reminder: SALIVA palys The Hard Rock Cafe' downtown after the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. Should be cool. I really like the new SALIVA tune, "Ladies & Gentlemen." If you haven't heard it, keep it on the Riff & you will. Hell, make it down to the show to hear it live!

This Saturday night from 8 to 10 I'll be hanging at The Hamlin Pub in Clarkston. Beer specials, drink specials, Riff swag, everything you've come to expect from the Riff when we hit the streets! This Saturday afternoon I get to hang with Paul Stanley of KISS! You can too. He'll be at the Parisian department store in Rochester 3pm to 5pm signing bottles of the new KISS cologne for men & KISS perfume for the ladies. I always thought I'd meet Paul Stanley backstage at a KISS show in costume & make-up, not in the fragrance isle of a department store. Weird...but cool none the less. Don't forget Paul is at the Emerald Theater in Mt. Clemens on Sunday for a show with the Riff.

Sunday from 2pm to 4pm you'll find me in Ann Arbor at the Verizon Wireless store with
Kris Draper and Chris Chelios of the Detroit Red Wings. Come get a new phone & an autograph from these future hall of famers. Don't worry, we'll have Riff swag for you at both places while it lasts.

Congrats to the American League Champion Detroit Tigers!! What an incredible 9th inning dinger from Maggs! For a lot of people, this will be the first time witnessing the Tigers in a
World Series. For some of us, it'll be the 2nd time. Still others, the 3rd time!

I remember in '84, me and a buddy were watching the last game of the ALCS when I turned to him & said, "Ya know, if the Tigers win, it's gonna be one helluva party downtown around
Stadium..." We decided we could listen to the game on the radio on the way down there.
We parked the car just as the Tigers won the game & advanced to the World Series. As I was walking along having a good time with the fans on the street, I saw a guy walking toward me...a really BIG guy. Let's call him"Lurch." He was wearing a beer soaked Tigers t-shirt & had a determined scowl on his face. I was sure Lurch was gonna beat me with my own shoe for my pocket change & my Members Only jacket. He walked up to me, grabbed the front of my shirt and lifting me off the ground, got right in my face & said, "F***in' Tigers man," let go and walked away. After I shook that off, I saw a person with a big hunk of the field rolled up under his arm. I asked him if I could have a piece of it & he tore off a corner & tossed it to me. I had until it became just a chunk of dirt and I had to toss it.

Those are just a couple of my memories of the '84 season & what a storybook season it was.
This has been a storybook season, too. Those of you who weren't around in '84 should take note that this might not happen again in your lifetime...then again that's what we said in '84...and '68.

INFREAKINCREDIBLE!! The Tigers are showing no signs of slowing down the "Motown Mowdown." 2 games to zip. I'm lovin' it. Wait, is that trade marked? It is? I'm sorry...I'm liking it alot! Next 2 games here in the D & it could be all over come this Saturday. I've got my eyes crossed!

This Saturday night from 8pm to 10pm you'll find The Riff, and me, at SCAREFEST in New Haven. Plenty of Riff swag & a chance for you to pee yourself. If ya like the haunted house thing, THIS is your night! So, I'll see you there, right?

DAMN YANKEES!!!

WOW! How great it is that the Tigers are move forward & the Yankees are no where in sight!!
Bonderman & Rogers were incredible! I thought it quite funny that, everytime something pivitol happend in those games, Jeter had a look of disbelief on his face. Tiger's & A's in Oakland for game one of thier series Tuesday.

This Wednesday on your way to the "AeroCrue" show at DTE, make sure you stop into Ruby Tuesday's. I'll be hosting an AeroCrue pre-party from 5pm to 8pm with Riff swag & other cool stuff for you. Grab a burger & a couple cold ones before ya head over to the show. Saturday I'm at SCAREFEST in New Haven from 8pm to 10pm. Get your friends together & get there to have the crap scared out of you. Remember to bring an extra pair of skivies, just in case.

I have been listening to the new JET cd. It's harmonys & melodys remind me of The Beatles. seriously, it's very Beatle like in places. Not as rockin' as the last cd, but I think it's pretty cool. Give it a listen, you might like it too.

The Wife & I have wanted to get a dog for awhile now & we finally did it! We adopted "Duggan" at the adopt-a-thon at the Detroit Zoo. He's a great dog. Very quite, very friendly. We just couldn't leave without him! A little bigger than we wanted, but that's okay.

This Friday I'll be at Pier 500 in Wyandotte for a WRIF Labatt party. Make sure you come out & have a couple adult beverages & snag your Riff swag! Should be cool! I'll be looking for ya. I'll be missing Screamin' Scott's wedding bash, so you better show up!

Now, on to other things. It's one of the 7 signs of the Apocolypse! Tigers in the freakin' playoffs for the first time since '87!!! Git-r-done boys! The Lions...not git'n-r-done. Ya know, win or lose, either way you look at it you're still drinkin'. To forget or to celebrate...mostly to forget. I find a shot of tequila works the best chased by a beer. Repeat.

Okay, so I've experienced the Family Values tour, the Godsmack/Zombie/Shinedown show & I still have Queensryche (9/17) & Tool to go!! I am certainly giving my eardrums a workout!

Speaking of Tool, make sure you come to the pre-party at The post Bar right across the street from the Palace this Friday! I'll be your host with Riff swag and all kinds of fun stuff! Meltdown will be talking with the guys in Tool later this week, by the way.

Monday (9/18) will find me in Traverse City for Red Wings training camp. Always a good time & the guys are always willing to give an autograph or answer a few questions.

Rockstar: Supernova---was disappointed in the choice of Lucas Rossi. I thought Dilana was a shoe in! Yeah, I know, Drew & Mike don't really like her all that much & you may not either. Say what you will, but that chick can sing!!! She's got a great big voice for such a little package.

AMERICA REMEMBERS

So, here we are 5 years later. I remember getting up & walking into the living room, turning on the tube & going about my business like it was any other morning. That is until I heard the announcer say, "The plane that hit the Pentegon..." I stopped in my tracks and thought, Plane that hit the Pentegon? Must be a little commuter plane." Went about my business. The annoucer then said, "The 2 planes that hit the World Trade Center Towers..." I stopped. It took a second for it all to compute. I went into the living room & looked at the television...I saw what you saw. I stayed in front of the television for hours, staring in utter disbelief & lost in the confusion, just like you. I was too numb to cry. That came later.

The next day was erie. No planes in the air except for the jet fighters patroling the
air space of my city. I noticed when I came to a stop light, the people in the cars beside me were looking up in the sky.

I have friends who lost friends & relatives in the attacks. I have a friend who was there just 3 days prior to the attacks.

Please, today (or any day) when you see a police officer, fire fighter, EMT, members of our military, take a moment to shake thier hand and thank them for what they do. THEY are the ones working to keep us safe. It only takes a second & in my experience of doing this little act of appreciation, it goes a long way with these brave people.

So, Arts, Beats & Eats was fun. I ate my way through it quite nicley, thank you very much. In fact, I had THE biggest burger I have ever had...The "Oh My God 1lb. Burger"! I'm going to take this opportunity to rename it, "Heart Attack on a Bun." THAT'S a lotta cow my friend.
Great Motor City rock n' roll featured all weekend too. Was good to chat with Joe from Ugly and Eric from Overloaded. It was a fun time for everybody & The Riff looks forward to it next year & every year. I've heard that Arts, Beats & Eats is ranked 7th in the country as far as festivals go.

The Riff is ramping up for The Family Values Tour this Saturday at DTE. It's gonna be crazy nutty! A huge party & a bunch of fun! Don't forget to stop by The Riff booth. I'm realy looking forward to seeing this show.

Tigers are doing just fine. At this writing, still in first place on thier way to the playoffs! Hockey season starts soon & I am actually going to Red Wings Training Camp in a few weeks. If you've never been, ya gotta go. It's in Traverse City at Centre Ice. The team is usually hanging out at some of the local taverns after practice so you get a chance to talk a bit with'em...if you can get past all the scantilly clad puck bunnys! Great bunch of guys. Even though he's hung up the skates, I'm told the Captain may be there, so that'll be cool.

Hey, this Labor Day weekend, look for The Riff at Arts, Beats & Eats in Pontiac. We're there everyday. In fact, I'll be there this Friday night for the Sonic Summer Battle of the Bands finals. Bands doing battle: Prime Ministers, Pillar Of Autumn & Free Element. Starts at 8pm. Should be cool! Grab an adult beverage & hang out for some great Motor City rock n' roll!

Looking forward to the Family Values Tour with Korn, Stone Sour, Deftones, Flyleaf, etc. September 9th at DTE. I'm really looking forward to seeing Korn again. I'm also looking forward to Flyleaf. If your going, make sure to say hello if ya see me & make sure to stop by the WRIF booth.
